Why goOne of the great food sights of the year: a temple shrine stacked with hundreds of vegetarian dishes for the Hindu New Year.
The day after Diwali is the Hindu New Year, and BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Parsippany marks it with the Annakut, which means “mountain of food.” Hundreds of vegetarian dishes, sweets and savories are arranged in tiers before the shrine as an offering of devotion.
Annakut Darshan is the chance to see that offering. The mandir’s event page invites everyone to “experience the grand Annakut” with family and friends, any time between 11 AM and 7 PM.
