- The Skylands is a New Jersey tourism region covering Sussex, Morris, Warren, Hunterdon and Somerset counties. It's known for family farms, pick-your-own orchards, small historic towns like Chester, Sparta and Frenchtown, and the Delaware Water Gap.
- When is the best time to visit the Skylands for food?
- Late September through October. Apple and pumpkin picking are in full swing, farms host harvest dinners, and fall color usually peaks in mid-to-late October. Summer is best for farm stands and berries; winter for fireside dining.

- Most Skylands towns are about an hour to ninety minutes by car from Manhattan, which makes the region an easy day trip or weekend for a long lunch, a farm visit and a scenic drive home.
