Ann and Jarred Bush bought their 22-acre farm in September 2016 planning to grow hops, hence the original name, Hoppy Valley Farm. Wild hops in the valley ended that plan, and in January 2019 Jarred piloted his first batch of syrup from the bark of the Shagbark Hickory trees in the farm's hedgerows. Today they gather the naturally shed bark, scrub and slow-roast it, then grind it into Sweetbark spice, brew it into a caffeine-free hickory tea, and reduce the tea with organic cane sugar into syrup. Black Label versions are aged in the bottle on bourbon-infused bark. On the farm's 10th anniversary, Sept. 14, 2026, they renamed it Arbor + Field.
