Duce and Joy Tallamy have run Green Valley Farms since 1996 on a Sussex County farmstead that has been worked for more than 100 years. Across 250 acres they raise Angus and Angus-cross beef cattle, born on the farm each spring and pasture-grown for 18 to 24 months before going to a USDA-inspected butcher, along with pork, sweet corn, pumpkins, other vegetables and cut flowers. The Route 23 market sells that beef and pork with seasonal produce, homemade baked goods, preserves and pickles, eggs, milk, butter and cheese, and the creamery serves homemade ice cream in flavors like Charlie Brownie and Barnyard Gravy.
