Hayek's Market was founded by Elias Hayek in 1939 and is now run by Dan and Denise Hayek. It is a full independent market on Mill Street in Newton, open seven days, with groceries, a butcher counter, and a deli that makes salads, paninis and ready-to-eat dinners daily. The bakery makes pies, cookies and cakes and takes custom orders, and the ice cream parlor next door serves a rotating list of handcrafted flavors, from vanilla and chocolate to seasonal ones. The kitchen also caters, with holiday menus for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other occasions, and there are daily lunch and dinner specials and a monthly dinner menu.
