Vince Karpinski, known to the family as Ojciec, Polish for father, opened the Manville Pastry Shoppe in 1966, and his family still runs it with his recipes and the same machines. The case holds doughnuts and crullers, Danish and fruit buns made with local fruit in season, apple fritters and bear claws. Breads include French bread, sourdough rye and hard rolls daily, with challah, babka and Irish soda bread to order or in season. Fruit, pumpkin and coconut custard pies, cheesecakes and layer cakes rotate through the week.
