Rudy and Mary Cervenka came out from New York City in 1920, Rudy a Czech-born World War I veteran seeking fresh air after mustard gas exposure, and the family has farmed these 138 acres in the Hunterdon hills for five generations since. The farm once kept 22,000 laying hens in a three-story coop still known as 'The Hotel', and sent truckloads of tomatoes to Campbell's Soup and pumpkins to Mrs. Smith's pies. The stand that began in the 1960s as two peach baskets, a board and pyramids of Jersey tomatoes now sells the farm's own tomatoes and sweet corn, produce from other local farms, pies baked daily, fresh bread and local milk, eggs, cheese, honey and ice cream.
