Ed and Carol Kesler bought the farm in the 1980s, on land beside the old Morris Canal that has been farmed for more than 200 years, and their son James now runs it day to day. The hillside orchards grow nine kinds of fruit, including 73 apple varieties, peaches, plums, pears, apricots and cherries, plus berries and vegetables, using low-spray integrated pest management. The orchard presses its own cider and supplies the apples for the family's Just Made Bakery in Hackettstown, and sells at farmers markets from Montclair to Manhattan.
