The Sergeantsville Inn has stood at the village crossroads since 1734, with a lively tavern, a quieter dining room up a short flight of stairs and a loft beside the wine cellar. Chef Sean Gray, who spent nearly 15 years at Momofuku Ko in New York according to The Digest, took over the kitchen in 2024. His menu runs from oysters and beef carpaccio on grilled toast to a 32-ounce côte de boeuf, with old-world wines and classic cocktails. NJ Monthly gave it 3.5 of 4 stars in February 2026 and named it to its 50 Best Restaurants list for 2026; it holds a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2026.

The kitchen names its suppliers. Bread comes from Bread & Culture in Flemington and the half chicken from Griggstown Farm, both on the current menu. The Philadelphia Inquirer (March 2025) also credited Roots to River Farm radicchio, Noble Mushrooms, lamb from Mt. Salem Farm in Pittstown and Lo Re pasta from Hopewell, and the wine list pours Ironbound ciders from Asbury.
