How we chose

Every stop on the Thanksgiving Table had to clear the same bar: it’s in Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon or Somerset County, it sells to you directly, it’s open through Thanksgiving week, and everything we say about it comes from the business itself, on its own website or from the owner.

Then we ranked them, the same way in every county:

  1. Confirmed by the owner. Businesses that checked their listing and sent us their holiday details come first.
  2. 2026 details posted. Order deadlines, pickup days and prices for this year beat last year’s, or none.
  3. Grown, raised or made here. Farms that raise their own turkeys, and kitchens and bakeries that make what they sell, rank above places that resell. Look for Raised on the farm.
  4. Spread across the county, so there’s a good stop near you.
  5. One ready-cooked dinner per Main Course, for anyone who would rather not roast.

Each course has at most three stops per county. Other good places selling turkeys are named under each Main Course. We list order and pickup dates only when the business has posted them, and where only last year’s details are up, we say so.

Checked against each business’s own website on . Holiday plans change, so confirm before you drive. Run a farm, butcher or bakery in the Skylands? Send us your holiday dates.
